Australian Army helps fight bush fires

ASLAV (Australian Light Armoured Vehicles) crews from the 1st Armoured Regiment have been assisting the community threatened by wild fires by travelling to hard to reach areas of Kangaroo Island.

Heavy earthworks vehicles from the 6th Engineer Support Regiment have also assisted emergency services to create emergency firebreaks.

The picture shows Australian Army reservists positioning heavy plant equipment in preparation for oncoming bush fires in the early morning in the town of Kingscote, Kangaroo Island, during OP Bushfire Assist.
